Frequently Asked Questions

What is

ShowYourLocalStripes demonstrates, as simply as possible, how the climate is warming up. It draws inspiration from the original #showyourstripes movement by Ed Hawkins, but with a strong emphasis on local warming trends.

Climate change is a real issue; however, we often believe it doesn't affect us - that it's happening somewhere other than where we live. ShowYourLocalStripes is a global call to action: climate change impacts everyone!

What do the graphs show?

Red stripes indicate that average yearly temperatures are above the mean, while blue stripes indicate lower temperatures. The graph is designed to be as straightforward as possible. We gather data from Open Meteo, which combines weather station, aircraft, buoy, radar, and satellite observations to create a comprehensive record of past weather conditions. Weather data for larger regions, like countries, are approximations.

Can I share these graphs?

Absolutely! Help spread the word, and if you really like them, consider supporting us by visiting the store below. Feel free to send me an email if you need the data to reproduce the graph.

Why clothing?

Now that you know the climate is warming up, why not let everyone know with a touch of fashion? We've partnered with a sustainable print on demand service from the UK to print t-shirts featuring designs from thousands of places around the world.

Can I order more than 1 item? How about free shipping?

Yes - just add different items to your cart. The availability of free shipping is dependent on the country, typically for orders above 50-70€. Orders can be returned.

How can I get in touch with someone?

Feel free to send me an email or a message, and let's have a conversation.
